Well, we finally got our first significant cold front of the season and the big bull redfish are fired up! We had some great days in September and now 5 days into October we can tell it's going to be something to write home about. I still have some days available so if you want in on this action you better secure your spots now.
The first 4 days of October called for stiff wind, cooler temperatures, and clear skies. Well, we got the stiff wind and cooler temps, but complete overcast skies every day. Definitely not ideal conditions, but a good guide can make the day enjoyable and give you opportunities at some great fish. We weren't going to let a little crappy weather stop us from having fun! Hopefully mother nature is just getting it all out of her system anyway.
A couple of the clients I had last week were also the first to stay at the new Dogwood Lodge, which is a large house boat docked in Hopedale, Louisiana. I picked them up and droped them off right there at the boat using their floating low-dock each day and was able to hang around a bit for breakfast and dinner. The place is AWESOME and well worth the price compared to what you'd find in downtown New Orleans. More bang for your buck too! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, open bar, and a friendly staff makes this place like non other within an hour of downtown New Orleans. It's so convenient and comfortable and the hospitality is great. Plus, you'll actually be able to sleep without hearing a bunch of drunken people partying outside your room! So if you're looking for a place to stay while on your Louisiana saltwater fly fishing charter or light tackle sight fishing charter, I strongly recommend the Dogwood Lodge!
