Spring and Summer Light Tackle and Fly Fishing in New Orleans, Louisiana

Light Tackle and Fly Fishing for Redfish, Black Drum, Jack Crevalle, Alligator Gar, Tripletail, and more In Louisiana.

The end of winter is just around the corner and I couldn't be more excited.  Spring and summer fishing, here we come!!!  The marsh is such a special place year-round, but there's something about the warm weather, grasses getting greener, alligators and other wildlife doing their thing, and fish chowing down!

Imagine standing on the bow of a skiff with your guide silently poling in crystal clear water with a dark grass bottom and redfish cruising around looking like koi in the water.  Or going along and seeing giant redfish tailing and backing as they hunt along a shoreline.  Or poling in a shallow pond loaded with oysters and giant black drum waving you over with their tails.  Or seeing a school of redfish cruising and looking for something to crush.  Or experiencing the ferocity of a school of jack crevalle in a feeding frenzy.  Or seeing the giant wake of a group of jacks cruising across a flat or along a shoreline come at you from a couple hundred feet away... They're fast so you better be ready!  I could go on and on, but these are just some of the different situations you may experience in the spring and summer here in the Louisiana marsh.

Do you like topwater action?  Of course you do!  If the conditions are right this can be a GREAT time for topwater action whether it be a fly or a lure.

The Jack Crevalle AKA the "American GT".

Have you heard of a Giant Trevally or GT?  It's a fish that.... Well, it lives on the other side of the world from us and is pretty dang close to a Jack Crevalle, which is right here in our own backyard.  Have just a few days to make a trip?  Or even just a few hours?  You could tango with these beasts without sitting on a plane and in airports for 48 hours nor maxing out your credit card.  You won't find another fish as aggressive, big, and powerful in the shallows on this side of the big pond as the jack crevalle.  Don't own the fly or spin gear strong enough to handle these monsters?  No worries because I have the right gear for the job!

Spring and Summer have started to book up so if you're looking to come experience some of the best times to be in the Louisiana marsh just outside of New Orleans, let's get your days reserved!  If it's anything like last year, trust me, you'll want to be here.
